Today is a day that will go down in college history! For today is the day that I slept for sixteen hours straight. Yes, you read correctly. Last night (technically this morning?) I fell asleep at one am, and today I woke up at five in the afternoon. Why has such a sleep schedule occurred? Why has no one stopped me? Find out, after the break. . .
It's Spring Break! And, as I am inclined to do, I have (due to an odd string of events) decided not to partake in the usual cliched activities of college students, and instead stay on campus and embrace my inner sloth (that phrasing . . . makes me really want to hug a sloth now). Anyways, most of you who know me personally can easily attest to that fact that, unless it comes to school-work, I am an infuriatingly lazy and sedentary beast. Therefore, this post will be upsettingly (for you) short. I know, I know. Hush, hush. Do not cry, dear readers, your tears will short circuit your laptops! Alright, now that you have stopped expressing such anticipated and warranted emotions, I will get on with my post.
Thursday: I slept in until around eleven fifty, put some leftover dominoes pizza my friend so kindly gave me into the fridge, and started studying for my two finals that I had to take on Friday. I cannot remember much from Thursday. It seems like a lifetime ago. Alright, I checked my text messages and it turns out that Taylor and I hung out in the library basement for a bit, we then parted ways to shower and things, but then joined back up at her house to eat an excess of Thai food. After that, we cuddled in her bed for half an hour, and then I left to prepare for my finals the next day.
Friday: I woke up at 7 am, which is abnormal for me considering my first class every day is at 11 am. However, I had a Chinese final at 8 am. Which took me about an hour to finish. Yes, I am brilliant, you can say it (and apparently, you can say it IN CHINESE, Rich. Like, what?). So I got out of my Chinese final early, got some breakfast, and then went to my dorm to study and take a nap before my 3:45 Environment and Culture final. But the plans that I usually make for myself fall through as soon as I get to my room. Instead, I'm pretty sure I just played my ukulele instead of napping. But I definitely studied some more for my class (once more, these pre-weekend days are hazy. As are the weekend days...and the post weekend days. All hazy, but not for drug reasons, guys. Drugs are for...I was going to say thugs. But drugs are pretty universal.) Well, at 3:45 I took my long-as-the-Harry-Potter-series test in which I wrote way too much for a class that taught way too little (I enjoyed it, though. And I did learn things. Chill, mom and dad, I'm getting an education worthy of the cost, I swear). After that, I went to my dorm and just ran down the halls waving my arms around wooting and hollering. Did I mention that my floor-mates love me? After that, I think I just had Commons dinner with Taylor, Matt Lipoff and debater people, went back to the dorm and messaged my friends until way too late, and then went to sleep.
Saturday: This was a good day, I remember. I woke up at 2 in the afternoon (this will be a trend), got brunch with my friend Jake where he freaked out about forgetting his pot brownies in his friend's fridge (To ease your anxiety, know that he managed to get them) and then hung out in the quad with Taylor and Amy. Amy then had to leave, which is when I decided I would go get my ukulele and laptop and bring it to Taylor's dorm room. I then played her a song called "Bisexuals in the Bathroom", which is probably the best song I have ever written (which isn't saying much, as I've written about 3 songs) but none of you will get to hear due to disturbing content and a plethora of inside jokes (Plethora is, in fact, being used correctly, as there are too many inside jokes in this song. It makes it a worthless song to an outside audience). After than, Taylor and I dawdled around and then realized we wanted to go see the Hunger Games. So we got a taxi to the mall, ate at the Jasmine Cafe, which is delicious, bought snacks at TJ-Max (yes, it is as sketchy as it sounds) and then watched the Hunger Games. It was an entertaining movie, but, it would have been better if the original book was better and if the movie delved deeper into the critique of the society and the more-than-two-dimensional fragility and personality of the characters more. Or something. I could write a long post on it, but I don't want to. When Taylor and I finally got back to her dorm, she decided to smoke some... substances and we turned on the room's Christmas lights and blasted some crazy-good music. Instead of leaving the room to go home, I decided to sleep in Taylor's roomate's bed instead (this will also be a trend).
Sunday: I woke up at 2 am and went back to my dorm to get fresh and dressed for the day. I wore a dress (which may or may not have been borrowed from my sister's closet at home), sunglasses and a floppy hat. I then went back to Taylor's room and she was upset by how nice I looked, so decided to change into a dress as well. Since it was in the mid-seventies, we went to the Dairy Joy, which is an ice cream shop a few minutes away from campus. I got a chocolate and banana shake and Taylor got a Pineapple Sundae. We then got dinner, but we both weren't hungry because we just got ice-cream. Luckily, due to our enhanced brain capacity and intellect, we had enough foresight to smuggle Tupperware into the cafeteria and thus stored food for later. I went back to Taylor's dorm, and Taylor went to go to work in a study lounge. I then ate sugary cereal, incessantly messaged Taylor and left pictures on her Facebook wall, messaged my friends and then finally Taylor came back to the dorm. We then fell asleep. She might have smoked things. I cannot remember anymore.
Monday: I woke up in Taylor's roommate's bed at 2 am (once again) and got a text from Taylor saying that she was in the Library basement. We then spent a couple hours there, but the library closes early during break so we decided to go to dinner instead. And then we went to a lounge in Hedge Hall which I stayed a until around 3 in the morning. This custodian named Max kept coming in and telling us stories. And at first he seemed funny and nice, if not a little odd. But then he started preaching scripture and talking about how God speaks to him, and the miracles that he has performed. Then he told me that God was telling him that I will meet a man with a light green shirt and a dark green tie who will offer me something that will lead me to my ideal career and I was just like *smile and nod, smile and nod*. Well, he finally left, and then I had three concurrent conversations with people about Pottermore. Now that it is open to the general (read: not-as-cool-as-me) public, my friends have started signing up. Long story short, Jack, who wanted to be in Hufflepuff, got into Slytherin, Jake, who wanted to be in Slytherin, got into Gryffindor. A slew of disappointments. But Jack came to terms with his serpent side, and Jake was just like "no, I refuse to believe", and then made another account to re-take the test and got Slytherin. My friend Taylor, instead of finishing her paper on China and economics, got into Ravenclaw. So we're the best, is what I'm saying. By three am I was becoming mentally unstable and my sentences were becoming a bit odd. So I called it a night and went back to my dorm and fell asleep.
Tuesday: I woke up (at 2 in the afternoon, again) to Taylor sending me a picture of the website page in Pottermore showing me she got into Ravenclaw House to which I responded with the question "How did your paper turn out?". The answer that I got was "AH YES MY PAPER I HAVE DEFINITELY FINSHED THAT". Finally, she finished the paper and we went to Dairy Joy again. Instead of going to Commons for dinner again, we decided to get Thai food. It was an excellent decision. There was too much to eat, but that's better than too little. We ate our dinner while watching "Bridesmaids", and then ate lava-cakes. Some guys came into the common room and we all decided to watch "Drive" and eat candy which Nick's mom sent him. Then Taylor, Gunnar and I went up to Taylor's room where they smoked pot and we all listened to some good music. I went to sleep at 1 am. In Taylor's room. Again.
Wednesday: I woke up at 5 pm. I know, I disgust myself too. Taylor was already up and was watching debate rounds online, so I joined her. We then decided to go get some dinner. So I went home to become presentable to the outside world and then Taylor and I walked to Commons where we stayed until 7:45. That was when I started this blog post. However, Commons closes at 7 (technically) during the break, so we went to a conference room in 280 where I am currently residing. And now I'm done with my post. Huzzah!
Time to troll the interwebs.
Best Wishes,
Nicole
I see some people are celebrating Friday early. Wait, no that's just college...
